Excellent, But Needs to Return to Open-World Format
My five year old son beat this game with pleasure and relish and then continued to return to it for months afterward. It was easy enough for him to beat without being discouraged, while containing enough extra challenges to keep him engaged. The puzzles that each level posed were perfectly placed for his age group and the story was interesting enough to capture my attention as it played in the background. I wish that more games were able to work as well for the five-six year old age range. We also own Lego Marvel and unfortunately this game, while wonderful, is not as well organized. The complexity of maneuverability from one area to another worked against this game when compared to the open worlds of Lego Batman 2 or Lego Marvel.

This was a gift for 2 great nephews who are gamers
This is a Christmas gift for my great nephews. They are grade-school youngsters and Batman fans. This si the very game that they are asking for and we think they'll enjoy it, as I believe they have the 1st and 2nd. Arrived on time and well packaged. It arrived at my address and then we giftwrapped it ourselves. They got it on Christmas Eve and were so jazzed to get it that they pretty much forgot about their other presents (they get a LOT from the other kin.)My aunt (their mother) reports that they are playing it all the time that they are not in school.

Great for kids.
Actually, I don't play it... we bought it to have around when our four year old grandson is around to visit. He can handle it and loves it. Friends have been over with their children. The two player mode requires them to work together to solve puzzles and problems to get them through the levels. A lot of dialog and teamwork is evident when the kids are playing it.

Fun, but Lego Batman 2 was better
I preferred Lego Batman 2 for the story and the ambiance. Still, I'm enjoying the game. I just finished the main play. I'll update and adjust as I go. I will say I enjoyed the humor of the super heroes having their personalities "switched" to be beyond cute. I thought it added some of the elements of the Lego Movie video game and Marvel video game to upgrade. I still preferred the old Lego Batman 2 Hub. I don't find the space shuttle nearly as fun as running around Gotham in the last game.Okay, sorry this is late as an update. I honestly forgot about it. I'm about 95 percent done (and have been for weeks). I still have issues flying. I don't think it's the game as much as I just have issues flying. I definitely don't like this as much as Lego Batman 2. I'd put it behind both Harry Potters, Lord of the Rings, the Hobbit, all the Star Wars, Lego: The Movie, and Lego Marvel. I cannot stand the little Lantern planets. The hub is lame (although Kevin Smith cracks me up). There's no ambiance to the hub, and the moon base for racing just bores me. I much preferred running around Gotham. I liked the Hall of Doom setting -- although it was limited -- and the vintage Batman level was tons of fun. I just didn't like it as much -- and those virtual reality levels bug the crap out of me.Next up it looks like we're getting Lego: Jurassic Park. Let's hope they go back and make that one fun -- because this one was a letdown.

Plenty of open space to roam
My 6-year-old and I love this game. I read some reviews taht said it doesn't have open/free-roam space like Batman 2 had, but that's not true. In fact, I'd say there's more. after you finish story mode, all the planets you've been on become available and you can roam through them, gathering gold bricks in little quests, races, etc., just like in Batman 2 or Marvel. We haven't finished it yet, but this is a great game, very much like Batman 2, but in outer space instead of in Gotham City.

Holy great game Batman!
This is a really fun game to play. It is not violent like Halo but you can still fight. You won't get motion sickness like in Halo or Call of Duty either. You can use so many DC characters and it is LEGO! Actually a really easy and fun game to play with your kids. A lot of puzzles and seek and find mini games included within the game. I really enjoy playing the LEGO games with my son.

Classic
These games are incredible. If you love the DC universe, then you have to have this game. Go beyond Gotham in to the far reaches of the DC universe, including space, the Hall of Justice, Legion of Doom, and Green Latern's planetary base. Play as classic heroes and villains. Explore in free play. Or flashback to 1960's BATMAN universe, complete with Adam West. Great game. Great for all ages.
