Damascus Steel Rod for Knife -Jewllery-Pen Making

Bought the blank to make a muzzle brake. Found an inclusion about a half inch in but figured maybe it was just because it was the end. Lopped another inch off and or looked good.Just finished the muzzle brake and went to etch it. Realized during polishing that there is a helical crack inside the piece. You can only ar it by looking through the ports. The crack goes from almost the front all the way through to a half inch from the back. Junk brake, straight to the art bin.

Unfortunately, this bar of Damascus had quite a few holes and delaminations in the center of the bar. The outside looked tight and clean. You can see in the cut off before machining. I turned down a piece to see if it cleared up any, but just showed more cracks in the steel, and pieces coming loose. I’ll have to add another picture later. Would not work for what I needed.

On this bar I can visually see 3 places with delimitation big cracks in the steal how far and deep they go I will find out take pictures but overall it looks like 75 percent of the steal can be used maybe

Good piece for the money. Had a really hard time drilling all the way through on one section.

Definitely worth it i was a lil nervous about buying damascus off of Amazon but nope. Had a lil rust spot but not worried about it.

Product arrived just as advertised. There were no inclusion in the round stock. Very nice twist pattern. I can’t complain and will buy more when I need it.

This billet sucks!!! Half way through making a knife I noticed three spots where it was breaking apart. Will never buy this again
