Great album not so great package
For £30+ I expected a gatefold sleeve. Bit disappointed. Great music but we all knew that.

Lost in the sound
Forget packaging etc. It is two LPs black 180 g vinyl with basic original art-work and a paper insert with the Straitjacket songs' words, and re-mastered. When first issued it was all about getting CDs due to the clear sound and so it was over-looked. I find the sound has gramophonic and cassette vintage quality consistent with memories of Dire Straits music at the time ( 1980s ). "Where do you think you are going ?" sounds as if they are playing in front of you in a concert. It is a pre-CD sound all through. All tracks are very nice and master-pieces of rock music. I doubt if anyone would dislike them. Good they re-issued this. Vinyl music collectors should not omit this re-issue ( many become discontinued ). Recommended and fully worth buying. And for an authentic nostalgic reminiscence.

Not quite what it should be
This is for the remastered vinyl released on 17th June 2022:The version of Twisting By The Pool is not the remix version but the original single version instead.Telegraph Road is not the live remix that was on the 1996 CD remaster or original release. It's just a cut down version of the studio version.I would have given less than 3 stars, however I like the new version of Portobello Belle (which is live, so they at least got that correct!)

Ok but nothing special
Amazon service was great. Vinyl is flat and no surface noises but actual quality of music is pretty poor. Not much in the way of separation of instruments, sounds better streaming. Not even the full length version of money for nothing and the second live track isn't even live.

Wrong Telegraph Road!
Ruined by the fact Telegraph Road isn’t the one used on the original (tape as I had it), that was the best version of that track, should have been a gatefold too.

More Czech poor pressings
Universal doing more cheap poor pressings from Czech pressers. Knopfler set was similarly hit and now Dire Straits. Leave well alone.
