Knopf Six Dots: A Story of Young Louis Braille

Great way to learn about the history of Braille!

Used this in Sunday School to give the kids a better understanding of what it would be like to be blind before going into the lesson on Jesus healing the blind man. It is a wonderful accounting of how a child --like our kids--became blind, but through much patience and perseverance discovered how all blind people could learn to read and write. I also used "The Black Book of Colors" so that the kids could actually "feel" the dots and imagine the increased sensitivity in their fingers needed to distinguish one letter from another.

I ordered this book for the second time. First time it was sent back without delivery!? Delivery was fast this time. An amazing story of a courageous young boy. My 5 year old son and I enjoyed reading it together. Very encouraging! It would have been nice to include the raised dots to feel, in the book. In any case, I highly recommend this book.

Nice little story about an invention that we further about, that changed the world!
