Not for the faint of heart
If you are a honey-adventurer, you are going to want to have Strawberry Tree honey on your list. That is because it is more of an "experience" than a "honey." Yes bees make it, but that is about where it's resemblance to what we think of as honey ends. It is an anomaly in two important ways: First, of course, is its taste. For about a second your tongue first notices some mild sweetness. That rapidly changes to sharp, almost astringent notes of green ivy or other woody plants (or some say coffee dregs, which is also accurate), then it finishes in just straight-out bitterness (and no, I don't mean bitter-sweet...I mean bitter). There could be no more unusual tasting honey on the planet. Its second anomaly is this: As a general rule of thumb, darker honey varieties have more antioxidants, etc, than lighter ones. Strawberry Tree is again an exception to the rule. It is a very light golden color, yet may be the healthiest of any honey. I am very impressed with the quality of the Ebion brand. The texture of my honey is beautiful....it is thick and very fine-grained, like a spreadible honey. It arrived very well-packaged, with no breakage or leaks.

It really tastes nasty!!
I read in one of my herbalist books that this strawberry tree honey was good for your body, so I bought some. The warning did say it tastes a bit bad. A BIT BAD!!! It's like the old medicines that our mothers had to give us in the 1940's. I do not eat it on toast - I could never get it down that way. I get something good tasting like some grapes ready, put that tsp of "honey" in my mouth, swallow and grab the grapes. If it weren't so pricey, I'd throw it away - might do it anyway.

Bitter honey
Take them at their word--when they say bitter honey, that's what they mean! Very thick and spreadable, not a liquid honey. Definitely reminiscent of coffee/Kahlua with just a hint of sweet at the end. Very well packaged and arrived safely. If you want a more standard/sweet honey this is not the one for you, but if you like bitter/unusual give it a try!

Great Taste
I bought the Strawberry Tree honey. It is slightly bitter in the aftertaste but I really like it because it isn't super-sweet. Great in herbal tea or with goat cheese. It is very pricey and as much as I like the unique taste, I can only make a purchase once in a while.

Remarkable!
I have always wanted to find a honey that didnt have that high sweet taste, and be balanced in other factors and I have found it in this Strawberry Tree Honey! One taste when i opened the jar and its obvious to me there are many other nutrients in this honey that do not occur in any other food and from anywhere else in the world. And tiny beautiful bees made this.. I would buy a case if I could afford it. Thank you to the U.S. seller Medical Warehouse and also to Nikos Ourani who is responsible for collecting this honey from the wild forests of Greece. And to the Strawberry Trees that grow there and the bees that love them so well...great job!!!!

Amount is different from what I've expected
They write it's 14.46 ounces, but when I received it, it was only 8.82 ounces of honey. Please be aware that they don't allow returns.

Bitter and Complex
This honey is stranger than any honey I have ever tasted. When I looked up what it is supposed to taste like I saw coffee dregs, leather, green ivy, etc. and I have to say it lives up to this description. It is thick and bitter. But, oddly enough I love it! So far I have used it in tea where the bitterness disappears and I’ve also put it on ricotta cheese over a piece of soft bread. I love it but if you are looking for a beautifully sweet honey this is not it. If you are looking for challenging and complex flavors, add this to your cart!
