make sure to use a dab of flux and a freshly cut/stripped butt end to avoid oxidization
I saw a facebook post on this and it inspired me to try this out. Indeed it works great! It saves me so much frustration, gives a sturdy connection and works with one or two hands. When soldering a butt end connection, I usually need 4 hands. 2 to hold each wire together, 1 to hold the soldering iron and another to feed the solder. Quite a hassle. I have to get creative with tape or clips. These wire connectors make it easy. I just slip it on one wire, twist the wires together and center the sleeve. A heat gun or lighter gently melts the glue holding the wires together and finally when it gets hot enough the solder flows. If the wires don't hold together, you can always readjust it before the heat shrink/glue bonds permanently. Work from one side to the other. When I soldered in the past I would always get frustrated when the solder doesn't flow where I want it to. I finally found out about oxidation. If the wire ends are oxidized solder doesn't want to wick through the wire. This is not the fault of the wire connectors. Ensure a fresh cut with a newly stripped butt end. This along with a tiny dab of flux ensures perfect soldering every time. The only thing I'm wary of though is that I don't know the long term effect of acid flux sealed inside a waterproof connection. It may corrode over time. I guess one could use an acid free flux or prime the ends first making sure to burn off all the flux before connecting. The good thing about this is that the connectors are clear and colorless allowing for easy spot check of the joint. This is especially useful in awkward spots like under the dash in a vehicle or in tight spaces. You just have to figure out how to direct the heat without impacting surrounding components.

Great for diy projects! Time saver
I was somewhat skeptical about buying this item because of some reviews I read while shopping for solder heat shrink. I must say I am completely satisfied with my purchase. This 170 pc kit comes with a great assortment of different gauge wire heat shrink. Great for DIY projects that require soldering wires together! Real time saver as you solder and heat shrink at the same time. As of now I have no negative feedback on this item. Have used it twice and has worked great both times. I have included pictures on my install. I will say there is some condensation inside but that is completely my fault for using two different gauge wire and a torch. I will definitely recommend using a heat gun! I used a torch for the convenience of not having to run an extension cord for my heat gun but I will for sure use heat gun next time!

recommend it!
In the past, I had to solder the two wires with the solder iron, and then use a heat gun to shrink the heat shrink tubing to wrap the copper wire. Until I found these on Amazon, it is really time saver, it just took 30 mins for me to finish the joint, while it would take about 2 hours to finish the same joint via using the old way. Though it is a little bit expensive than the heat shrink tubing, I will recommend these solderless wire connectors.

Not as simple to use, but good for experienced people
The design is not the most practical, it has good theory, but in practice it's tricky to use, specially if you don't have good space. You have to heat quite a bit before you start melting the solder, so use them only if you have no other options, which most of the time you do.

These are easy to use and very reliable
These are very nice. I get a good solid connection which is waterproof to boot. I'm running wire for security camera and these make like a lot easier. Actually, I run wire for lots of things so these will continue to be handy. One of these days I'll get a nice heat gun but for now I'm using one of those inexpensive little butane lighters for a bbq. It really doesn't take a lot of heat.

Sold electrical connection are the best.
I am a trained technician of 29 years and know that a good sold electrical connection is the best . And will be able yo deliver the most power that is needed. I wish that I had purchase these sooner. My time making a connection has gone down dramatically. I showed them to my friends now I have to keep them under look and key or the will be gone. Thanks for thinking of theses.

They do what they’re supposed to
They do work really well and I’m very pleased but a bit tricky to hold the connection all together with one hand while holding heat gun in the other. The solder holds but takes a good amount of heat to melt it. Great product though, even using them at work when I can.

Heat the solder well
Works well, however be sure to heat the solder very well to a point of visually seeing the solder melt into the wires. Otherwise the you may not get a good bond.
