Blind Taste Test!
Awesome for low carb dieting. Tastes 99% like table sugar. I made two batches of homemade coffee ice cream (using the Delonghi gelato maker I reviewed some time ago) following the exact recipe for each, but one using sugar and the other xylitol. I took both batches to a family party but said nothing about one being sweetened with xylitol. I was curious if anyone would notice any diff between the two and needed unbiased, blind taste test results. I volunteered to serve the ice cream and secretly marked 9 of 18 paper bowls with a small X underneath and then made sure each group of 9 was made up of similar age groups. Half way through cake and ice cream I disclosed the experiment (but I withheld the number of who got what) and asked everyone to take another bite of their ice cream and to raise their hand if they think they were served the xylitol sweetened version. 5 people raised their hands. I then asked everyone to look under their bowl for an X. 2 out of 5 had the X. Sweeter than usual was the consensus as to how they decided they had the xylitol version. Everyone else that had the X but didn't raise their hands were BAFFLED that an artificial sweetener tasted so good.

I don't know what I'd do with Xylitol in my life.
I don't know what I'd do with Xylitol in my life. I like my coffee sweet, yet don't eat sugar. I mix half a bag of this Xylitol with 2 teaspoons of pure white Stevia powdered extract, and shake it all up in a gallon ziploc bag. The result tastes just like sugar to me. There is a symbiotic relationship between Stevia and Xylitol that, when combined, tastes sweeter than just Xylitol alone. I find the combination is perfect for my morning coffee. Additionally, after using it for awhile, the gassy issue fades as your intestinal flora get used to the product. I have been using Xylitol for years now, and will never go back to sugar.2.5 pounds of Xylitol + 2 tsp Stevia = wonderful!

Package does not contain 5 pounds
I weighed this package. It weighed 4.6 pounds. As a check on my scales, I weighed a 4 pound package of sugar, it weighed 4.0 pounds. The package was so full I don't think they could get 5 pounds of zylitol in the package.I notified the seller. As of today they have not responded.I haven't been able as of yet to prove it is really zylitol.

Not 5 lbs!
I just opened this bag and began measuring it out to make my sweetener mix. It seemed to be taking alot of the bag to reach 1lb, so I put it all back in the bag and weighed it. It weighed just over 4 lbs! That’s a big difference when the bag says 5 and that’s what you think you’re buying. Beware.

Tastes great like more expensive brands, better price. Great for dental health.
I've been using xylitol for dental care with my toddler. I bought a bunch of xylitol gels and wipes but they are unbelievably expensive if you go consider the amount, filled with other unnecessary ingredients, and the wipes are just awful to use so they're just saved when I have nothing else with me.I make a teaspoon of xylitol (roughly 5 grams a day is considered effective) mixed in a small amount of water for my toddler sipped through the day especially after meals and snacks between brushings. I also use it in my coffee now instead of sugar. I have never accepted any other sugar substitute until xylitol. The first time I could just barely tell it was a little different, but there's no aftertaste. It really is just so close to sugar. And my teeth don't feel sticky after my morning coffee. I could just give up sugared coffee but this is a nice replacement and hopefully even better for my oral health.I started with another brand, made from all birch and in the USA. It was quite a bit more expensive but it's for my kid and so I went with it until I could consider my options. We finished up that small container so quickly since I"m using also a couple of teaspoons a day. At time to reorder, I saw Zint has 5lbs for so much less. It tastes the same to me. It's 100% refined xylitol so I don't know why it would taste differently regardless of being made from corn. Just like beet sugar is identical to cane sugar, xylitol is xylitol. Zint is made in China so there's that difference if it matters to you. I tend to worry more about such things if the product involves plastics or paints, but China is a huge producer so it's hard to avoid for everything. I hope they has a good test and monitoring process in place as all companies should, but I'm otherwise very satisfied with the product for a good value.

Upset my stomach and caused extreme gas and bloating.
I like this (for the most part) but it doesn't like me. I noticed after my first use that I had extreme gas and bloating around an hour or so after consuming it in tea and it lasted for hours after that. I chalked it up to what I had for dinner. I tried again for two more days and had the same problems.I have never tried xylitol by itself before so I wasn't sure how my body would respond. I have GERD so I'm not surprised that it caused such distress to my digestive system. However, I will definitely not purchase it again. While this does have a slight aftertaste (one I don't mind as it's not unpleasant), I did notice that I had to use more than expected to sweeten a cup of tea (around 4 spoonfuls). The amount I had to use may also contribute to my upset stomach but anything less just isn't sweet enough.
