Works great for vacuuming sand
UPDATE: I've now been using this vacuum for three months. I seriously don't know how I managed without it.I have goldfish in a 55 gallon tank. They are crazy messy. All the other vacuums I've tried are either too big around and suction too much water, or they aren't long enough. This vacuum has a 1" tube and a small hose so that it doesn't suck up everything in the tank. I can pick up debris without removing too much sand at the same time. It is easy to maneuver and gets around the base of plants and rocks easily. I can do a pretty thorough daily (in a perfect world, anyway) clean-up and remove only about a gallon of water and a ton of fish waste. It comes with two tubes and a coupling to join them so you can make the tube as long as you like. I love this because I don't have to worry about what's on my hands since I don't submerge them anymore. The little pump is a great feature and makes it effortless to start the water flow. The clip that attaches the end of the hose to a bucket is perfect and I no longer need to worry about it escaping so I can concentrate on the vacuuming end of the system. This tool makes my life much easier and I'm sure the fish appreciate a cleaner tank. If I had a gravel substrate, I'm not sure how much I would like this, though. I think a larger vacuum would work better if you really wanted to clean the gravel and not just pick up debris on top of it.

It works well once you figure out a few tricks.
I like that this is a pretty simple aquarium cleaner. But the pieces fall apart quite easily during operation. Had they made some of the pieces using threaded fittings I think this could have been a near slam-dunk product. The other difficult thing I've struggled with is trying to get the pump primed. The trick is to position the apparatus near horizontal to get the chambers to filled with water before you start pumping. It took me a while to figure that out. Regardless of the imperfect rating, I feel like this is one of the better suction kits available on the market.

Quality of materials poor but suction good
it works but parts obviously not made in USA the plastic piece you put in the tube did not fit. My husband had to use a tool in garage to force it on.The vac has good suction but the tubing keeps kinking up so now he has to put shrink wrap on the end cause it kinks and then leaks water. It is cheap quality to me but serves the purpose. We have a large deep tank so I will say the length (extension tube) you attach is nice and lomg just difficult to attach

Works great!
Have a 55 gallon tank. This product works like a dream to help keep my tank clean. Love the extension since my tank is taller. Hands don't ever have to touch the water! I did have issues with the first vacuum that I received. I requested a replacement, the company sent a replacement out immediately along with a shipping tag to send the other back. They made the transaction very easy.

Not for anything over 5 Gallons
Maybe I was too optimistic and intended to use this for cleaning my 25 Gal rocks and plants..Five minutes in my thumb was tired of pumping and we had barley started anything, ten minutes in the handle slipped off and spilled water everywhere...Cheap, very low pump pressure and water displacement..If you have a med sized tank just get the real deal.Pass

updated review: does not last.
Update: I’ve purchased two of these, and neither lasted more than a month.Original Review: We have an aquatic turtle, and we have been hesitant to put much gravel or sand in her 120 gallon tank because we don’t want waste to hide in it, and gravel would clog our old siphon. The suction power on this is weak enough to not suck up gravel, but strong enough to suck up the other debris around it.My frustration is in the fact that the suction is too weak to suck up the scutes (bits of shell) that she sheds. But if it was strong enough to suck up the scutes, it would suck up gravel, so I’m pleased with the outcome. It is easy to use, and it’s long enough to get to the bottom and corners of her huge tank.

50% chance of getting a defective product
Like a lot of these plastic vacuums, there are defective ones. I got a defective product. All the pieces are there and I followed all the pictures & diagrams, but there is no suction.Edit: The seller contacted me outside of Amazon and sent me a replacement. The replacement is a completely different brand and works great.
